LUNEA is a Catalina 36, tall rig sloop. She was built in 1986 in California. She is a roomy, comfortable, coastal cruising vessel who's sailing performance is surprisingly good for a "cruiser" and who handles well even in heavy weather.  Our previous boats are Mermaid, a Mirage 24, another Mermaid a Cal 2-29 and Blue Moon, a Pearson Ensign.

LUNEA is a name we invented by combining the names of our previous boats, LUN from Blue Moon and EA from Mermaid. Ea is an old Babylonian name for mermaid.

We are fortunate to live on the shore of Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island, spending most of the warm weather months living aboard LUNEA. We take advantage of the many cruising destinations here in our corner of New England. Cuttyhunk, Block Island, Martha's Vineyard, Hadley Harbor, Mystic, Shelter Harbor, and Hamburg Cove, are among our favorite spots.

The sheer enjoyment that sailing LUNEA gives us is enhanced by the beautiful sea and sky panoramas and, the camaraderie of fellow sailors that we meet along the way, by design or by luck.
